I'm the one-woman band behind the IT girl.

Having worked as a Software Engineer, Website Designer and IT Manager for the best part of 20 years I decided that I needed to get out of the dark basements that I kept finding myself in and branch out on my own. Being self-employed gives me a much better work-life balance and I actually quite enjoy each day being very different.

I've been told that I'm very patient and calm, which is definitely a bonus in my job. I don't like giving up on a challenge and if I wasn't doing this, I like to think that I'd have progressed very well in the string untangling business.

I now live on a 58 foot narrowboat on the Gloucester to Sharpness canal, which is my cosy (and very muddy) head office. Living off-grid isn't without it's challenges, but I wouldn't swap being woken up by hungry ducks to go back to the city. Feel free to ask me how cold it is in winter.
